Plant Raised Flower Beds
Raised flower beds allow you to display a wide range of plants. According to Wilson Bros Nursery, choose plants that receive the most nutrient rich soil. The root system must stretch out rather than extending downward for optimum growth. Most flower beds are of 60-90 cm (2-3 feet) of soil fertilized by the root system of each plant to thrive.
Grasses have a root system extending outwardly in a thick web of approximately 30 cm (1 ft) below ground. Due to its root system, ornamental grasses growing in raised flower beds. Herbs grow between 1.2 and 2.4 m (4 to 8 feet) high, making great borders and accents in the raised flower beds in relief. Grasses include common periwinkle and porcupine grass. Flowers and annuals allow the redesign of the raised flower beds each year. Their life cycle lasts one year before seed production and die. Most annuals have small root systems due to their short life span, forming a group of roots below the floor of 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) in diameter. Annual plants ready containers are commonly sold in nurseries for planting in small sectioned after purchase. Common annual plants include marigolds, pansies, sage and petunias.
